The Counseling, Advocacy, Resources, and Education (CARE) Support Services program provides help and support for the GLBT community in times of need. CARE Support Services include:
Mental Health Counseling
Trained social work counselors provide GLBT-affirming short-term counseling and crisis intervention for individuals, couples, and families. Specialization areas include coming out, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, HIV/AIDS, and a continuum of addictions counseling, such as drug and alcohol*, gambling, eating, spending, and other forms of impulsivity. Anti-Violence Project – Long Island (AVP-LI)
GLBT-affirming support and advocacy for victims of violence, including victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, hate or bias crimes or pick-up crimes.
Social Work Internship Program
Social work graduate students receive placement with the Long Island GLBT Services Network from the top area colleges and universities.
The Center at Bay Shore hosts various 12-step groups:
