The Counseling, Advocacy, Resources, and Education (CARE) Support Services program provides help and support for the GLBT community in times of need. CARE Support Services include:
Mental Health Counseling
Trained social work counselors provide GLBT-affirming short-term counseling and crisis intervention for individuals, couples, and families. Specialization areas include coming out, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, HIV/AIDS, and a continuum of addictions counseling, such as drug and alcohol*, gambling, eating, spending, and other forms of impulsivity. Groups are facilitated by trained social work counselors, and provide support through guided topic discussions. Current groups include:
Youth Support Group — meets the third Monday of each month at 6:00 pm at The Center at Garden City
Youth Support Group — meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm at The Center at Bay Shore
Parent Support Group — meets the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm at The Center at Bay Shore and meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at The Center at Garden City
Long Island Trans Experience Group — meets every Wednesday at 7:30 pm

Anti-Violence Project – Long Island (AVP-LI)
GLBT-affirming support and advocacy for victims of violence, including victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, hate or bias crimes or pick-up crimes.
Social Work Internship Program
Social work graduate students receive placement with the Long Island GLBT Services Network from the top area colleges and universities.
