Andrew Stern joined the LIGALY Board of Directors in 2006, serving as Board President from 2007 – 2012. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for NARAL Pro-Choice New York and the National Institute for Reproductive Health, working to help women across the country gain access to the full range of quality reproductive health care options, the freedom to exercise their reproductive rights, and the opportunity to have healthy pregnancies.
He has been with the organizations for 12 years, first as Political Director, then Vice President of Politics and Legislative Affairs. He also served as Interim Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice New York in 2011. Prior to his work with these organizations, he was the Senior Community Organizer and later Director of State Governmental Relations at Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the oldest and largest HIV/AIDS services, advocacy and education center in the nation.
Andy grew up in North Massapequa, where he served several terms as a member of the Nassau County Democratic Committee, and is a proud graduate of both Nassau Community College and CUNY Hunter College.
